Ringtail illegal characters

Can ringtail handle illegal characters? When I run the Validate, it's
telling me there are illegal characters within the file name.

Ring tail will accept illegal characters in some fields but to be on the
safe side we omit them. Ringtail guidelines are as follows:
not allowed in the docid field <>/:*?|" or in any of the level fields. Also
Memo Fields can only contain characters up to ASCII 127. The title field
kicks out <>
