Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional Version has capability to paper-capture a bu=
nch of file from a folder. I am not sure if it does look for is the file is=
already ocred before doing paper-capture. Here is how to run paper-capture=
on a folder ...

=B7 In Acrobat 6.0 Professional click menu option Advanced=3D=3D>Bac=
tch Processing.
=B7 Batch Sequence Dialog box will popup. Click =93New Sequence=94 B=
utton
=B7 Provide Batch name in next Dialog.
=B7 Click first button, with caption =93Select Commands=94 in next d=
ialog. Add paper capture to selected commands.
=B7 Select =93Selected Files=94 in first ComboBox. The button next t=
o the Combo will turn enabled. Select Folder where the PDFs are residing.
=B7 Select Output location by clicking second Combobox and adjacent =
Browse button. Click OK.
=B7 Select newly created sequence and press =93Run Sequence=94 butto=
n. Click Ok in confirmation dialog. Wait until process is done.

Add an @EDOC line for each file with the path and filename:
@EDOC \mydirs\mysubdirs\myfile.ext
that works for dii and edii.

Put fule path (Relative / absolute) in the field "DocLink".

This would be one for your IT people. VPN stands for virtual private
network and as such creates a link between one server (where the copier is
connected - let's say Vancouver) to another server (outside your local LAN)
to where you want the images to be stored -- let's say Calgary. The best
way to think about it is like a tunnel from ServerA in Vancouver to ServerB
in Calgary. You've got firewalls to deal with and a whole flock of other
things depending on the configuration of ServerB in Calgary and the rights
assigned to the copier in Vancouver. If everything was in place, you should
be able to map a drive to ServerB in Calgary.
If you can navigate to ServerB, the target using Windows Explore then you
are mostly set. Map a drive (Tools - Map Network Drive) to the location for
the images (let's say you choose O: for "other server" and the folder where
the images should be stored -- O:\ maps to \\Calgary\Data\Copier Images
from Vancouver). All you would have to do is point your copier at O: and
away you go (well -- that's the theory anyway).
You've got a bunch of practical problems. The copier may not be able to see
ServerB even with a mapped drive, perhaps it can only see the local LAN
servers. Usually VPN links are slow and your copier may time out doing the
scanning even if it can see ServerB. Also, you have security
considerations, do you really want the copier to see that server?
This is definitely something you want to take up with your IT department. I
can think of 101 reasons not to do it this way. I'd be more inclined to put
the images on ServerA and once you were done scanning, transfer them to
ServerB.

Add an @EDOC line for each file with the path and filename:
@EDOC \mydirs\mysubdirs\myfile.ext
that works for dii and edii.

This would be one for your IT people. VPN stands for virtual private
network and as such creates a link between one server (where the copier is
connected - let's say Vancouver) to another server (outside your local LAN)
to where you want the images to be stored -- let's say Calgary. The best
way to think about it is like a tunnel from ServerA in Vancouver to ServerB
in Calgary. You've got firewalls to deal with and a whole flock of other
things depending on the configuration of ServerB in Calgary and the rights
assigned to the copier in Vancouver. If everything was in place, you should
be able to map a drive to ServerB in Calgary.
If you can navigate to ServerB, the target using Windows Explore then you
are mostly set. Map a drive (Tools - Map Network Drive) to the location for
the images (let's say you choose O: for "other server" and the folder where
the images should be stored -- O:\ maps to \\Calgary\Data\Copier Images
from Vancouver). All you would have to do is point your copier at O: and
away you go (well -- that's the theory anyway).
You've got a bunch of practical problems. The copier may not be able to see
ServerB even with a mapped drive, perhaps it can only see the local LAN
servers. Usually VPN links are slow and your copier may time out doing the
scanning even if it can see ServerB. Also, you have security
considerations, do you really want the copier to see that server?
This is definitely something you want to take up with your IT department. I
can think of 101 reasons not to do it this way. I'd be more inclined to put
the images on ServerA and once you were done scanning, transfer them to
ServerB.
